The Blue Mountains Council Meeting — Tuesday, September 8, 2026 @ 9:30 AM

What to Watch

2025 Financial Statements (E.1): Council will vote to approve the town’s audited 2025 financial statements as presented by KPMG.

Craigleith Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades (E.2): Staff will brief Council on the 30% design update for WWTP upgrades — an information item with no vote required.

Napier Street Road Allowance Closure (F.3): Council will consider permanently closing a portion of the Napier Street road allowance — notable as a permanent disposition of public land.

Dual Rezoning — Plan 529 PT LOT 159 (F.6 & F.7): Two by-laws would rezone the same parcel from Development ‘D’ to an Institutional zone (By-law 2026-55) and a Residential/Open Space zone (By-law 2026-56), marking a significant land-use shift for those lands.

TC Energy Pumped Storage Project — IAAC Standing (G.2): A Notice of Motion asks staff to engage federal authorities to ensure The Blue Mountains has equal standing to Indigenous communities and government bodies in the federal impact assessment of TC Energy’s Pumped Storage Project near Meaford — notable given the town’s prior opposition to the project.

Thornbury West Phase 2 Reconstruction Suspended (G.2): A second motion would halt all preparations — including a scheduled engineering kickoff — for the Thornbury West Phase 2 road reconstruction until Council approves a revised 5–10 year capital plan.

Bicycle & E-Bike Safety on Trails (G.2): A motion directs staff to report on whether speed and enforcement concerns for bicycles and e-bikes on municipal trails will be addressed through the town’s Leisure Activities Plan.
