What to Watch

Edgewood Greens Phase 9 / “Elevation” (three linked items): Council will consider a final servicing capacity allocation agreement with Signature Homes, lift a holding provision on the associated General Residential (R1-378) lands, and endorse a subdivision approval extension to November 2029 — a notable batch of decisions advancing one of the township’s active residential developments.
Sideroad 21 Upgrade — $210K contract: Council will vote to award the Sideroad 21 road upgrade to Roubos Farm Services Ltd. at $210,013.50 plus HST.
New Integrity Commissioner: Staff recommend appointing Lauren Chee-Hing of Gridin Advocates as Southgate’s Integrity Commissioner and Closed Meeting Investigator; formal by-laws would follow at the October 7 meeting.
OCIF Funding Advocacy: Council will consider a resolution backing the MFOA’s call for Ontario to permanently maintain the doubled Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund ($400M/year) — affecting how much provincial grant funding Southgate can access for infrastructure renewal.
2027 Multicultural Day Host: Council will vote to formally support YMCA Grey Bruce in bringing the 2027 Multicultural Day Celebration to the Township of Southgate.
GRCA Rep Nomination: Council will put forward Mayor Guy Gardhouse of East Garafraxa as the shared Grand River Conservation Authority representative for five area municipalities through 2030.
